Connie is a current student in BCC's new C.A.T.C.H. program which trains students in all aspect of the hospitality field (Culinary Arts, Tourism, Casino, Hospitality)
Small class sizes gives the students a more in-depth approach to their studies
General studies are done 1st and then students get to focus on their topic (Connie is choosing culinary arts)
Connie explained to the students how "college is so much different than high school". She has to manage her time, show up or pay, balance life, school, work like never before. Students can be dropped a full letter grade or removed from the course, without a refund, if they are tardy or absent too many times.
Connie plans of pursuing her degree beyond BCC at either JWU in Providence or Newbury College in Boston.
College is "a lot of work., wake up call but still a lot of fun".
Her assistance with functions at SBRHS and as a member of the Cooking Club, along with her classes in Consumer Science, helped to prepare her for the busy demands of college life and the field of culinary arts. She's grateful the opportunities she had to assist in various events in and out of school.
